International Spinal Cord Injury Summer School

Challenges in spinal cord injury research and clinical management 2026

This School is being hosted for the sixth time and is a joint initiative of Wings for Life and Spinal Research. The aim is to review the neurobiology of neurological injury, with a particular focus on spinal cord injury.

Acute neurological injury can lead to dramatic and irreversible consequences for individuals, and it is a cause of lifelong disability worldwide. It has a major impact not only on patients, but also on families and carers, and represents a significant burden in terms of health costs.

Clinical and basic science lectures, as well as workshops from distinguished specialists in the field will discuss merits and limitations of existing models of injury used in research. We will also present an overview, including demonstrations, of the key clinical issues in this field, and promising translational research avenues.

This was a great experience! The SCI topic was covered from A to Z by the experts in the field. The many networking opportunities with both peers and experts created an inclusive environment and allowed the exchange of knowledge and research ideas. I highly recommend this SCI summer school to anyone in the SCI research field!”

2024 Summer School, Switzerland

It was a great pleasure being part of this amazing summer school! The cross-talk between clinical and pre-clinical research is so important, but very often missing. Coming together and getting insights from both sides is very inspiring.
