I am a consultant neurologist, specializing in clinical neurophysiology and the rehabilitation of spinal cord injuries. After completing my medical studies at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, I undertook my residency in neurology at the Spinal Cord Injury Center, Balgrist University Hospital in Zurich and in the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Bern, Switzerland. My training also included a clinical fellowship in neuro-urology.
Subsequently, I pursued a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Danish Pain Research Center, Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University in Denmark, funded by the International Foundation for Research in Paraplegia.
Currently, I hold an academic position as Associate Professor in Translational Neuropathic Pain Research at the Danish Pain Research Center, Aarhus University. I also work as a consultant neurologist at both the Specialized Hospital for Polio and Accident Victims as well as the Department of Brain and Spinal Cord Injury at Rigshospitalet, University of Copenhagen, in Copenhagen. My clinical responsibilities include optimizing the transition from inpatient to outpatient care for spinal cord injury patients and overseeing their long-term care in the outpatient setting. Additionally, I am the chair of the special interest group “Neuropathic Pain” of the Nordic Spinal Cord Injury Association (NoSCoS).
