Veronika Birkhäuser has excelled in the medical field with a focus on Neuro-Urology and Sexual Medicine. After completing medical studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany in 2011 she underwent urological training at the Department of Urology, University of Bern, under Prof. George N. Thalmann and at the City Hospital Triemli, Zurich, under Prof. Michael Müntener and obtained a specialist title as a urologist in 2018. Her specialty training includes surgical education in Solothurn and a residency in the Department of Nephrology, University Hospital Bern. Since 2018 she serves as a staff member at the Department of Neuro-Urology, Balgrist University Hospital, Zurich, under Prof. Thomas M. Kessler.
In addition, Veronika Birkhäuser earned a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Bern in 2015 and undertook a PhD in Clinical Science at the University of Zurich, focusing on “Neuro-Urology and Urodynamic Investigations” at the Department of Neuro-Urology, Balgrist University Hospital. She completed a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Sexual Medicine/Sexual Therapy at the University of Basel in 2024, further emphasizing a multifaceted approach to urology and patient care.
Veronika Birkhäuser actively engages with the broader medical community as a committee member of the International Consultation on Sexual Medicine (ICSM) and reviewer for various medical journals and is a member of several international and national societies.
