Known for its historic old town, Gamla Stan, which offers a clean urban design and strong commitment to sustainability.

Stockholm consistently ranks among the world’s cities with the highest quality of life.

It is also a major hub for innovation, education and healthcare, hosting leading universities, research institutions and advanced medical centres that attract patients and researchers from around the globe.

Karolinska Institutet

We are proud to announce that the 2026 Summer School will be hosted at  Stockholm’s international leading medical centres – Karolinska Institutet.

The Karolinska Institutet is one of the world’s foremost medical universities and the institution responsible for selecting Nobel Prize laureates in Physiology or Medicine.

Closely affiliated with Karolinska University Hospital, the institute plays a central role in research and clinical care for neurological conditions, including spinal cord injury.

Karolinska conducts cutting-edge research into spinal cord repair, neural regeneration, stem-cell-based approaches and long-term rehabilitation outcomes, while the hospital provides highly specialised SCI treatment and neurorehabilitation services.

Together, they form one of Europe’s leading environments for advancing both the science and clinical management of spinal cord injury.
